B.I may mention that Prince Kung has very
recently arrived in the Colony from Shanghai with the avowed purpose of studying the local situation, with a view to devising measures to combat Bolshevism.
There is no doubt that Prince Kung, who has called upon me, is entirely sincere in his desire to give any assistance in his power in the present crisis,
but his presence here might become the source of
some embarrassment if the Reds were to take the
opportunity to publish the plausible suggestion
that this representative of the Imperial House of
China has come to Hongkong to plot with the British Imperialists the restoration of the monarchy. A hint is being conveyed to Prince Kung that it
would be as well for him to return to Shanghai.
